Perhaps we are all conservatives

Yet we take things that are outcast and offbeat

and produce a society that is more inclusive

of the individuals there in. That is the liberal way

:wow:

OPNS>>Investing in Shared Ownership and Economic Fairness

Recommended Posts

The Open Society Economic Advancement Program, through its Soros Economic Development Fund, invites proposals from U.S. and UK investment fund managers, as well as community development finance institutions, who support shared ownership, to amplify worker and community voice and to more equitably distribute value to historically marginalized communities.

Open Society is looking to place capital with debt funds, equity funds, and community development finance institutions whose investment theses harness democratic ownership and governance in order to foster a future economy of greater fairness in distribution of wealth and more inclusion of marginalized groups. We are particularly interested in vehicles that support conversions to shared ownership (including employee ownership) in low-income, low-wealth, and other disadvantaged communities.

Fund managers and community development finance institutions whose investments take class, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, and disability into account are especially welcome. On a more limited basis, we will also consider direct investment opportunities (in the form of debt) to operating companies focused on conversions of businesses to stakeholder and/or employee ownership.

Guidelines

Funds should submit investment proposals, slide decks, investment memos, or private placement memos by email to sedf@opensocietyfoundations.org. The Open Society Foundations will consider investments in the range of three to ten million dollars located in the United States and United Kingdom (with a strong preference toward limited partnership commitments to funds or debt to CDFIs). This is not a call for grant support. Opportunities will be reviewed on a rolling basis until May 31, 2019.
