For women who use drugs, though, the number is almost certainly higher. While their plight is often forgotten, the fact is that violence against women who use drugs is a major public health problem. But without access to safety and treatment, women often remain locked in the cycle of gender-based violence. The consequences, not only for them but also for their children, can be devastating.
