    CRYSTAL BARBRE: ONCE THERE WAS
    6/08/17 - 7/09/17

Featuring all new paintings and drawings around the theme of Pacific Northwest Fairy Tales and Myths. Opening Reception Thursday,
June 8th 5-9pm during the Capitol Hill Art Walk

"Once There Was is inspired by the magic and lore of the Pacific Northwest. These new works are the beginning of an exploration into the darkness and romance, real and imagined that lurks in the history and myths of the Cascadian landscape. It is an enchanting place that has always sparked the imagination of the people's that inhabit it. This show is Chapter One in exploring where truth and tale intersect and where we can find, in true fairy tale fashion, the hidden truths that apply to our present days."

    5:15 PM

    Rather excited about starting over..

How much work goes into such a site over the years

    Lots I am sure.

And will be lots of work again getting artists getting writers

    Artists and writers welcome

    Play ball they will come.

Welcome to the newest of sites…

Hosted by the software people so it's got to be good

Will build up this site like I did the last one.

I think I will avoid a few errors such as having it maxed out with 3rd party apps.

Will keep that to a minimum I think.

    What else?

I am hiring a writer or two checks with me if you like to write.

It's not much but coffee cash.

    We are now the colony.

All we need is a few artists and a few writers

To get us started who's going to step up

    Thanks for being here

    Donald

  4. Anat Shenker-Osorio is a communications consultant, researcher, and author, who applies tools from cognitive science and linguistics in her work with progressive organizations globally. She believes the current crisis in human rights results in part from poor framing and choice of language on the part of advocates, who have failed to provide a clear values-based pitch to animate and sustain support for these rights. As part of her fellowship project, she will analyze materials from advocacy, opposition, traditional media, social media, and popular culture, in order to reveal promising and problematic frames and word choices. She is also conducting a series of in-depth interviews with a variety of subjects to identify promising metaphors that will avoid the traps of current practice and embolden base audiences to prioritize human rights while persuading skeptics toward their view.

In addition to running her own firm, ASO Communications, she is the author of Don't Buy It: The Trouble With Talking Nonsense About the Economy. She has advised the AFL-CIO, the Democracy Alliance, Centre for Australian Progress, New Zealand Council of Trade Unions and the State and House Democratic Caucuses (US) on messaging and narrative strategy. Shenker-Osorio has an MA in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley, extensive training in applied cognitive linguistics, and a BA from Columbia University.
