Written for FFM 2019: Day 6. 


The challenge today:

CRYPTIDS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN - Your story must involve a cryptid of some kind. This creature must be an existing creature, complete with real supposed sightings and regional folklore. We know you love your mythology, but unless you have a grainy photo of Loki in the backwoods of Nebraska, he is not a cryptid. Lucky for you, UFOs fit the criteria. So take off, little space-babies. And...

GET A DAY JOB -  Your cryptid must be employed in a fairly common vocation. Be it Bigfoot as a cashier, or the Kraken as a marine biologist- you need to get a job, ya' hippy. Extra kudos if your cryptid earns or buys cryptocurrency, such as bitcoin.

TAKES TWO TO CRYTPZOO - Your cryptid is lonely. Your story must include romance or love of some kind. Not inclined towards cross-species contamination? That's fine! Your two love-birds can be human, cryptids, pet rocks, or anything you like. Their love must be significant to your story, however.  

Optional element: Your story takes place in an alternate reality/unique situation where humans are considered cryptids. Your collection of beasties will be exposed to the uprecedented spectacle of a human in their world.



I went with the Beast of Bodmin Moor (and to a lesser extent, the chupacabra). 

The Beast has a job as a guide, and is also a language teacher.

My romance is between the humans Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights.  

And I went with setting my story in an alternative reality in which humans are the cryptids.
