Flyers have evolved considerably over the centuries since their invention, loosing much of their original maritime form as they developed into true flying machines. A spherical design became fashionable amongst military designs, to pack in the maximum amount of usable space into the smallest possible target. During the Second Final Battle between Good & Evil the first large-scale bombing raids were employed against targets deep within enemy-controlled areas. The Outlandish Kingly Air Force, fearing the loss of its independence to the much older, larger and more prestigious Kingly Army, invested heavily in sail-powered spherical bombers derived from FBGE II types. These flyers did good service in the last Arkish-Outlandish War, where the carried out devastating raids on Ahwo. Although now rapidly approaching obsolescence, the Outlandish establishment’s relentless demands for increasing the numbers of flyers in the Kingly Air Force has kept older types such as this in service.

The shown example is flyer no. 6 of the 5^th Bomber Squadron KAF. It is shown with its largest sail unfurled for maximum speed on a bombing mission in Orcneas, supporting the Army of the Fellowship in suppressing a rebel lord in the Free Peoples.

I might have no capacity for photoshop, but I can do paint. This pixel art is mostly inspired by rvbomally’s aesthetics tests for Space Cadet, and the various spacecraft designs for Ad Astra Per Aspera.
