So last year is asked Velvet how she made those wonderful setting for her jewels and she turned me on to trap merges. She gave me a simple layer parameter with the trap shape merge coloring function loaded in and I've played to some success, nothing close to what I really wanted but still worth sharing here and interesting. Well yesterday, in a fair bit of pain from nerve pain in my feet I decided I needed something to obsessively focus on. So I got her simple fractal out to try again, then I wanted to find some gold gradients and found BlurWing and while I didn't find my gold gradients I did find a guide to what each shape looks like in the ssg set and basically went to town picking shapes from his guides with more purpose and well this beauty is what resulted.

I want to share my params because shape merges are surprising fun and if anyone else has enviously been drooling over Velvets jewels for years (like me!!!! Man! Found her stuff years before UF had a version compatible for my comp and I was like Charlie in Charlie in the chocolate factory looking in the stores at a super shopper buying tons of wanka bars LOL) they might appreciate having a look at how I created the simple jewel shape and the trap merged shapes that make the jewels settings. If you do use these and learn how to use the power of shape merges to create something beautiful, please let me know! I will wanna drool all over your jewels too! LOL
