Long time no post! :D Here is an oil painting that combines two scenes that I have had the pleasure to experience in person.

The first reference used is one of a buck standing in the shadows slightly further out from a doe; the second reference is from a group of mallards that have often shown up during the same location and time as the deer. The most light and warmth is found in the foreground areas to reflect a late evening. Like all paintings, this one came with it's own challenges. Much of the colors and background from the original references needed to be altered to fit the image in mind. Even after digitally warming the temperatures and changing the tones, the colors were not where they needed to be. The only resolution was to create my own palette of desired colors and hope that they work together. :fingerscrossed:

The overall scene is very personal to me because it serves as my ideal source of inspiration, and it is the place where I collect most of my references.

I am lucky to get to see and experience these animals in the fall season. :)
