DEV>It is going to rain! - beaded necklace

This necklace was made for the Summer Contest held by Kaboshon.ru
The theme of the contest was “Seven Elements” (water, air, fire, earth, light, darkness and time).

My work is devoted to water and air elements - a little story about my childhood.

When I was 4-5 years old, I lived with my grandparents. Back then I was very afraid of thunder and lightning, but I often missed the moment when it started to rain, and ran home crying for fear of a thunderstorm.
One day, my grandfather taught me a trick — to watch swallows. They fly very low before the storm. It all seemed like magic to me I imagined that the swallows were my friends, and they could warn me about the rain. Since then, I like these birds.

I dedicate this work to my grandfather, to my sweet memories of those years that I spent in that small town. To the sound of the rain hitting the roof of the house my grandfather built. To the smell of wet soil in my grandmother’s garden after a heavy shower ...

To all those precious things that are left in the past ...

The necklace is embroidered with Japanese and Czech beads. I also used Swarovski drop pendants and rivoli crustals. The blue agates are the center of the composition. They have such a beautiful pattern - as if the rain itself is hidden inside them.
Each bird has “3D” wings - I embroidered each wing separately and attached them to the body at an angle.

The necklace made it to the finals. It didn't win any prize, but it received a lot of points in the audience vote and earned an honorable mention. Which makes me happy and proud
