It´s not long ago - that I met Dilek during my volunteering work for Reover your Smile in Munich. She was very open minded regarding showing her scars and that´s why I ask her to be part in my Essence of Life project.This was just the beginning of a creative relationship. During her therapy we wanted to go with her with a photo session. Very close to the clinic we found a London Tea Pub and they allowed her to use it as our location for the photo shooting.Maren from Maskenzauber & Erlebenskunst and Myriam Gless supported me. Thank you for making this possible. Please read below Dilek her statement regarding our project:"Scars" Yes, I have scars, inner and outer ones. Yes, I show them for this wonderful project from Annie. Why I am doing this? Because I can! Without these scars I would not have surrvived. I have agreed to the removement of my stomach, splenic, ovarian and metastasis - otherwise I would not be here anymore. My illness has changed my entire life, my dreams, wishes, goals and my view of the world. I lost a lot - but also won a lot. One of the won things is to see people differently than before. Unfortunately, inspired by social media a beauty ideal that is simply out of line with reality is nowadays being brought to life. As a result, young people in particular find themselves "ugly" dislike their body or even treat it badly to be "beautiful". But if I have learned one thing, then thats just EVERY person is beautiful, EVERY person is individual and nobody should be ashamed of scars. I deeply thank Annie for bringing this project to life and I am very proud to be part of it. Here in Oregon, the color of leaves in Autumn are just a dream palette of color and texture for any artist! So I collected a few from our yard and made a gratitude and abundance wreath! (My fur baby Jypsy helped with the gather of the leaves - photo in gallery). Truly we are so provided with all that we need, mind-body-spirit, from Mother Gaia and All That Is! What a great way to represent our many gifts and blessings that surround us! I collected about 100+ leaves and coated them with a clear sealer. Modge-Podge seemed to work the best. Got a wreath wire base from the dollar store and wrapped it up with some gauzy ribbon, also from the dollar store! Then just went to town hot gluing layer after layer of leaves going around toward one direction till I got back around to the beginning. I even got the little mini glue sticks from the dollar store! I added a few silk flowers and the little red bulbs too, (also from the dollar store). Grand total cost of this gorgeous Autumn Gratitude/Abundance wreath = $5.00! Have some fun with it! If you don't have leaves in your yard, what do you have that is going in our out of season that you could use some clippings from? I have made wreaths from pine cones, dried flowers, branches from trees, etc! It is great to use things that are coming and going for the season! Next for me is an ocean themed wreath, with as many times as we are exploring along the coast and beach combing along the way, I have plenty to get started there! Pencils: Mars Lumograph (4H, HB, 3B, 5B), Faber Castell 9000 (6B and 8B) , Mitsubishi Hi-Uni 10B, mechanical pencils 0.2 mm/2B, 0.3 mm/2B, 0.5 mm/4B with Ain Stein leads. Indentation: Royal Langnickel embossing tools Blending: Blending stump by Boldmere and paper tissues. Erasing: W H Smith kneadable eraser, Tombow Mono Zero Ultra-fine eraser, Jakar battery eraser. Graphite and eraser dust removal: UN Lens Blower Brush. Photography of drawing: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS10 compact camera, tripod and easel. A dark cloth was used behind the camera to eliminate reflection from the graphite shine. Photo adjustment of the photo of the drawing so that it closely resembles the drawing itself using GIMP: Removal of barrel distortion; Cropping to A4 ratio and removal of perspective distortion; Cropping unfinished edges of drawing; Adjustment of histogram. I give my thanks to Marie Baersch, the photographer (www.mariebaersch.com/) for kindly giving me her permission to make this drawing and post it on the Internet. I used her lovely photo of the model, Lulu Stone, as my reference (divinebeauties.tumblr.com/imag…). It is three months since my previous drawing. I had lost all interest in drawing until I saw the photo that I used as my reference here. I realised that the hair would stretch my abilities to the limit and that I would have to simplify the detail in order to make my drawing. I am not fully satisfied with this drawing, but doubt that I could appreciably improve it with any more tweaking, so here it is.
