Thats when people get lost to never return. They do not disappear inexplicably, they do not meet with a tragic fate, nor crimes that are filed as unresolved, they simply wander into another world and remain there. However many, many more would dissapear from our world as soon as the fog rolled in if it wasn't for the protection given us... They are mentioned by different names, specters, phantoms, wraiths, ghosts - the creatures that emerge with the fog, sometimes with solid forms, glowing eyes and dozens of searching hands, sometimes merely movements and shadows that seem to dissolve in the gray. Understandable it is not so strange that people get scared when they meet with them. There is a strong belief that it is these creatures that snatch people, spirit them away, kill them... but it couldn't be further from the truth. These creatures protect us, keep us here as the boundaries between the worlds blend together. Without these guardians, their powers, thousands more people would disappear, animals as well. And other things would enter... The creatures prevent this, keep the worlds apart, keep everything in order. So if you ever encounter something "unnatural" on a foggy day, do not be afraid, say thank you instead - for the assurance that you will come home again, to your friends and family, your home , your life, in your own world. This creature is mostly sighted in the most dense of fog, rarely fully visable. Its rather big, 2 times taller than the average human. Very swift and with flowing movements. It can take and loose its form in a heartbeat and the arms and hands are believed to be used for keeping the parallell worlds apart, altho no one is truly sure how they do it, nor what the limbs are made of, however it seems that the arms consist of a vein-like core. The creature is wise and powerful, able to keep the many parallell worlds apart when they blend, and it is not the only one of its kind, they are many. It is not known just how many but they excist in hundreds all over the world. They may look scary but they have never harmed a human. MADE: Ghost is completely handmade, original and ooak (one of a kind). Its head is sculpted with lots of care, time and tiny details, then casted for durability and painted with small brushes and lastly sealed. The eyes are glossed to give them a life like look. Its body is made of the softest fauxfur that Ive trimmed. Ghost is fully posable in legs, tail, neck, fingers and feet. Even all the arms around its head are fully posable. Ghost is a truly unique artdoll and I will never make another like it. Rixa Rae Silver Once the New World was discovered, many modest sailors were press ganged into servitude for the crown. Low wages, long days while being forced to sleep on the hardwood floor of the rocking ship was a “privilege” for those lucky enough to be 'volunteered'. Rixa was just one of 300 crew members aboard the Golden Crown captained by no other then the young Lord Dane Farkington. The ships orders were to seek and destroy the enemies of the crown and to eliminate any pirates that dare cross their path. It wasn't long into their voyage that a small brig with a black flag was spotted on the horizon. The Golden Crown immediately gave chase - no ship that small could outrun the Queen's vessel. In just a short period of time, the Golden Crown was nearly upon the pirate scourge. As they neared the small ship, one of the officers noticed something amiss - the brig wasn't fleeing with a full sail, but slowly meandered through the choppy waters. Surely they would have noticed a galleon as magnificent as this heading straight for them? Cannons loaded and muskets ready, the grapple orders where given. This would be an easy victory for the Queen. The galleon was just 3 ship lengths away from the brig when the Golden Crown came to an abrupt halt. Everybody on board toppled over as if the rug was pulled from underneath them. Boards creaked as the ship started to list to the starboard side. Confusion spread throughout the crew as the officers realized their fatal error - their precious galleon had run aground in shallow water. How unlucky were they that this sandbar appeared just short of their prize? “SAILS! SAILS!” yelled a man from the stern. Captain Farkington rushed to the back of the boat to see his worst nightmare. Multiple ships dawning the black were closing in. It was just then he realized, this was all a trap and he took the bait. The pirates made quick work of boarding the Golden Crown in numbers. There was no fighting as it would be better to beg for mercy than to fight with these odds. Lord Farkington and the Royal Officers were rounded up and placed in the brig while all the crew members remained on deck under the point of a blunderbuss awaiting their fate. The officers could be ransomed for a fair bit of gold, but a sailor's life wasn't even worth a barrel of rum and they all knew it. After the pirates looted everything from the crippled vessel, the leader of the pirate fleet stepped forward. An imposing figure, with a large beard and fiery eyes. They called him Cap’n Black Roberts. He spoke with a stern voice: “If you seek freedom, step forward and embrace the black". Rixa was one of many that stepped forward that day. I didn't plan on writing a second poem today, but I got a really good idea. I'm not going to delve into the whole of it, because I actually just typed a full paragraph about what I just wrote, and I honestly don't want to bore anybody with that tedium. Basically, it's taking something that's simple on the surface and giving it greater impact. The speaker is told he has to go work; simple. The work is disheartening, difficult, and unwanted and those feelings begin to fester in the speaker and deconstruct them: impact. I think many folks can relate having to do something or work in a place they dislike. While it might be easy for an outsider to say, 'it's just a job, get it over with,' it's not as easy to actually do that. I think a job we dislike can have greater impacts on us than we realize. Nobody wants to do something they don't want to do, that's purely human. Then you're stuck doing work, because we all have to work, that you really don't like. It can be a real blow to our morale, day after day of doing something or working somewhere that makes you very unhappy. And again, I know it's easy to say, 'well doing something we don't like, like working a crappy job, is part of life. Quit complaining.' I understand that point, but that doesn't mean you can't voice your ill feelings over it. I think it's hurtful to tell somebody something that essentially means you shouldn't voice your feelings over something that weighs heavily on you. It's more complex than mere complaining. Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, of doing something that makes one feel blue, can really hurt somebody after a long time. You can't just flip a switch and stop feeling sad, unhappy, or crushed. It doesn't work that way. Anyways, I'm on my rickety soap box again. I'll get off and let you go.
