I get inspired by music very easily. In fact, there's a whole slew of short stories I've been working on that are all inspired by songs, and this is one I feel resonates the most with me. It's mostly because I finished it on my twenty-first birthday, not long after a personal tragedy. It's a story I feel reminds the reader that though life is cruel, the most important thing is to find beauty in whatever form it takes and hold on to it for the rest of your days. When all is said and done, memories are made to last forever, even if the moment they took place was as fleeting as a shooting star. The song that inspired this story was Owl City's "Meteor Shower". it's the gang, they're all here i've been meaning to do a character line-up again for a while. i tried simplifying their designs more because drawing the small details, multiple strands of hair and folds on their clothes is tiring, and i think i prefer it that way. here are some things about 'em from left to right: Kate - Quiet and stoic, it's hard to decipher Kate's feelings. Not much is known about her. But then, really, by the look on her face she's probably judging your every move. Zachary - You'll most likely see him not reading and/or writing. Sensitive, approachable but awkward, extremely open to friends. He questions a lot of things and doesn't understand much about the world, when (according to him) it could be so much... kinder. It's not easy to forget that punch in the face. Levi - A former bully; he's generally polite and passive-aggressive, but it's easy to get on his nerves once something screws up. He's trustworthy and straightforward to those he cares about. Still likes to use sarcasm, but only sparingly and in the right moment. He's trying to be nicer after that fist fight. Lindsey - Anyone can find her lazy and calm, energetic and hyper the next day. She can lend a helping hand if need be. Enjoys annoying others for the fun of it, and doesn't mind being called a human pest. She this weird face, unlike everyone else. Why call her a human anyway? Neil - A nervous wreck who comes from a wealthy family. He has anxiety and odd mannerisms, and everything Neil is, is not what his parents wanted him to be. May appear like he's in constant panic but that's only because he doesn't want to disappoint anyone. If you're lucky, you might see him floating in the sky. Sunflora - Some say that one out of seven citizens is a talking monster. Sunny is some sort of yellow T-Rex with an awful lot of hair and an optimistic attitude. Enthusiastic and persistent, she thinks anyone can do anything if they keep trying. Spends her time organizing and staying in the library. Currently a close friend and sidekick of Eric. Eric - Despite being noticeably smarter than most, he hasn't ever jumped to a higher grade level. Loudmouthed and boastful; he isn't afraid of speaking his mind. Eric is the last person to trust; he lies pretty often and can get away with it. If he can't lie, he'll think his way out of situations. There's always a way around a problem. View the full article
