My tribute to the inspiring scifi saga 'Dune' created by Frank Herbert. This is a fictional setting not depicting any specific scene from the books. The foreground shows one of my favorite and for me most inspiring characters of the series, the God Emperor Leto II. Creating the worm turned out to be a really challenging exercise. I went through so many stages, completely overhauling the worm's design several times with new textures and poses. My first idea was to use a caterpillar as a reference, which turned out to be horrible. I even considered a seashell in between. Can you guess the reference animals of the final version? It's a mix of three if you count the teeth as well. A bald cosplayer goes to the movies to see Mad Max: Fury Road... What happens a week later? FURIOSA <3 My own Imperator's cosplay!! There are still a lot of things I want to change in here (mostly in the arm, and I need to find a good way to make the rest of the cosplay look old and dusty). These pictures were taken in a Brazillian park called Parque da Água Branca by my dear friend Helena Prado. I'm looking forward to a more complete Photoshoot in a movie-related scenery like a scrape metal yard or a dusty road…....also a GROUP, maybe? How awesome would that be?? Opening chapter of a Clone Wars fan fic. This is set during the original (Legends) version of the Clone Wars and takes place about a month and half into the five month long "Siege of Saleucami" as seen in the Republic comic series. It features ARC Trooper Captain Maze from Karen Traviss' Republic Commando novels. If you're a fan of those books, this story should be right up your alley. Shown is the full image of the Great Seal of the State of California sandblasted on a 40" piece of Starphire (low iron clear) glass with polished edge. The etching has been done in reverse from the backside of the glass. The image depicts Minerva, the Roman Goddess, holding a shield and spear, a miner, bear, wheat sheaths, sailing ships and steam ship, background mountains, 31 stars, Eureka motto, lettering, and a knotted border. A vinyl mask was cut and peeled layer after layer starting with the areas that have the deepest carving until it finished with a flat frosting and then shading. A 220 grit aluminum oxide was used, which gives it a smoother, yet rough surface in the etching. The seal was commissioned for an appellate court located in Santa Ana, CA. It will be mounted using four standoffs to hold it away from the wall. View the full article
