Got some wonderfully bad-ass photos from the talented Corey Graham instagram.com/graham.corey/ I am incredibly proud of this costume! I even consider it to be one of my best to date. It involved countless hours of work using several techniques and mediums. I was put to the test with my sewing abilities, and tackled a new style of armor to build. Construction details: ~ Armor - Completely built with EVA foam and fun foam sheets and primed with Flexidip. ~ Skull gauntlet - Sculpted with a mixture of Model Magic, Sculpey, foam and Worbla, then smoothed with drywall plaster and primed with Elmer's wood glue. ~ Cape - Fabric was stiffened and edged with Fray Check. Raised details in hot glue and then wing patterns handpainted. Thunderdevil shader details (the digicamo effect) all handpainted; on pattern peice before sewing and on armor after base coating. Some of these include high-bandwidth, FTL communication; which enables vastly improved computation power. Follotic Link technology, which provides the ability to induce local phase transitions in the very fabric of space-time, greatly increasing offensive capabilities. Featured here is the new 'Lor' Class Supercarrier, upgraded with the Smartdust compatible, F-Link arrays. Last Sunday me and my girlfriend cosplayed Arno Victor Dorian and Élise de la Serre at Elfia. These pictures were one the last made of us that day (but almost first to be found). I personally think the pictures turned out great! For anyone interested in trivia: the titles of these pictures are inspired by the sequence titles of Assassin's Creed Unity. Her eyes and cutiemark were fully machine appliquéd (using my sewing machine, not my embroidery machine). They incorporate a variety of cottons and white satin. Her eyes are also airbrushed with a gradient. Her pattern was designed by me. She is 42 inches to the top of her hair. She has 3d hooves and 3d sculpted ears. Her entire body is fitted with an internal PVC skeleton so she can stand very well on her own. Her tail is also supported by PVC and it supports it's own weight. Her hooves have poly pellets to further balance her. Her wings are wired to keep their position and shape. She has a zipper on her back and tail that were to help with the stuffing process. All of her legs, tail, side mane and most of her body are lined with heavy quilt batting to act as an internal skin, smoothing her out greatly and reducing wrinkling. She is stuffed with polyfill stuffing and foam. Her element of harmony is removable via magnets and is made from spandex covered foam. COMMENTS I've wanted to make a lifesize pony for over a year now, but I didn't want to make one till I was absolutely 100% confident in my pattern. Making something this large and expensive wasn't something I wanted to take lightly. I've spent several months researching, preparing and saving for her materials. It wasn't an easy choice, but I ended up going with Dashie, who is IMO the best looking plush out of the mane 6 and a favourite of mine. So I had the biggest problem with the part in parentheses, because I don't know whether it should read "I might have just replaced Hades" or "I might just have become Hades," but I also had a "too" at the end... but my twin thinks it sounds more final without. Since this was a piece I wrote in two seconds, I wanted it to sound as put together as possible for words that come from my head. Thoughts? The title was a bit last second, too (I wasn't planning on writing today). It was so easy to write, however, because the talented posted this lovely picture: fav.me/d8p51pi. If you guys remember, one of her pictures also inspired my poem Gardening For Dummies. Her way with photography and concepts is amazing, so if you like her work, I'd definitely recommend watching her for more! (: (Lethe is one of the five rivers in the underworld, and it's the river of oblivion and forgetfulness. The dead drink from it to forget their earthly existence. My second attempt to paint a portrait with oil. But this time I bought new oil paint and some brushes (and also an odourless thinner, because otherwise the whole house smells like turps). By the way, I had some problems to cover the paper with the color green, but it was still much better than last time (my very old oils were almost dry and the brushed lost some "hairs"). Maybe I'll buy some more proper (brand?) oils if I'm going to paint some more pictures... I'm sorry for the bad photo quality. It was impossible to take a picture without the reflection (white lines!). I'll try to take a better picture tomorrow (daylight!) Edit: I took a new photo of the painting (a bit less reflection). Reference was a promo picture of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) from the movie "The Avengers" (2012).
