Written for April 30 - Day 30 : NaPoWriMo In my version the Tyger is just a toy! The hardest part of this challenge for me was trying to stay true to the style of the original poem - all the thous and thys and thines and thees.... so! UnAVerse Stand Alone Story So... yeah... this was another one of those ones that got away from me. Not it bad way, luckily. I've been reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, and let me say that it is AMAZING! If you're a fan of awesome reading, I highly recommend it. Here's a synopsis. The Historian has been described as a combination of genres, including Gothic novel, adventure novel, detective fiction, travelogue,postmodern historical novel, epistolary epic, and historical thriller. Kostova was intent on writing a serious work of literature and saw herself as an inheritor of the Victorian style. Although based in part on Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Historian is not a horror novel, but rather an eerie tale. It is concerned with history's role in society and representation in books, as well as the nature of good and evil. As Kostova explains, "Dracula is a metaphor for the evil that is so hard to undo in history."[3] The evils brought about by religious conflict are a particular theme, and the novel explores the relationship between the Christian West and the Islamic East. --Source: Wikipedia Yeah, it's pretty fantastic. The book is told heavily through letters left behind from a previous generation, and got me wanting to write something along those line. I'm ashamed to say that the plot pretty closely mirrors that of The Historian, applied to my own universe, but I say fuck it. It was fun to write, and that's what matters. Just right in time for the start of the new Game Of Thrones season I managed to finished up a fantasy related piece. Again a pic with some over the top detail but well... that's how it is. OK, first off, I don't normally write stuff like this. Second, if you don't like to read horror, rape, drug-use, torture, and just well, this-even-creeps-out-the-author-making-me-worry-about-his-sanity type of stuff move along, don't read it. I kinda got the idea of this from reading about two horror movies: Spring and When Animals Dream. No, I haven't seen them. It's also not the first time I have written a story like this. Once one woke me up and refused to let me sleep until it was born, bloody and horrible, onto the page. Had I not written this, it would have kept me awake for days. /shudder I hope you might like this. If you'd like to know where I came up with the names (spoilers!) send me a note. Also, I'm posting it as part of Avoid the Adverb April. I even used the Adverb Detector to get rid of my adverbs (there was one "There was an attempt to move fingers, but they stubbornly refused to budge."). [Edit]: I nearly forgot.
